Casa Brugal
Casa Brugal was a 3 week pop up neighbourhood cafe bar that gave back to the local community. Serving coffee by day and Brugal rum cocktails by night. Margaret London is a creative network and studio working with culture to reach audiences and make a positive social impact. Margaret collaborated with premium Dominican rum Brugal, on a campaign to introduce the brand to a discerning London audience.

The Brief
Inspired by the cultural trend for hybrid day-to-night spaces, Margaret briefed me to design the interiors of Casa Brugal pop up neighbourhood cafe bar situated in bustling Hackney, East London.
The Approach
This small space was transformed into a premium cafe bar, featuring handmade cabinetry and bespoke furniture. With a strong environmental stance, we used sustainable materials including UK manufactured Foresso, paper based wallpaper and hired premium vintage furniture.
Strong brand storytelling was essential for this launch. I used elements like the brand pattern on the wallpaper as a nod to the heritage of the brand, dark blue velvet curtain to added a touch of luxury, whilst brass edges were added to the workshops and tables.
Casa Brugal included partnerships with local creatives who all created products inspired by the flavours of Brugal rum, which were sold from lit up shelving. The back corner was transformed into a DJ booth and vinyl listening station, and was created in collaboration with Spiritland who provided the soundtrack to the space and closing party.
All proceeds from Casa Brugal were donated to local projects through the charity Foodcycle.
