B&Q
B&Q have a huge 227k following on YouTube with viewers gaining useful DIY and interiors insights watching their ongoing ‘How To’ series of videos showing how to do various jobs around their homes and gardens.
The Brief
Mambo Media and B&Q approached me to design, style, and oversee the production of a how-to video focused on wall panelling—aimed at inspiring DIYers and showcasing B&Q’s extensive range of home improvement products. The video was part of B&Q’s YouTube content series and needed to strike a balance between accessible instruction and strong visual styling, in line with the brand’s tone and customer base.
I was responsible for developing a look and feel for the space that would demonstrate wall panelling as both an achievable and transformative update. I created a full interior concept including mood boards, colour palette, styling direction, and a props list—ensuring all elements were either sourced from or representative of B&Q’s current product range. The final set needed to reflect real-world homes, while offering aspirational styling ideas that viewers could easily recreate themselves.
How to create your own wall panelling
This room set created was fresh and clean, with lots of natural textures and elements within the styling. I used a sage green on the wall panelling, and kept it a lighter colour above with a pine flooring.
I used some simple props like plants, stationary and notebooks. Plants and foliage with a cushion and natural rug kept things cosy and inviting – elevating the ‘desk space’ room. This video has amassed a whopping 90k views.
“ Whenever we need a stylist, Jo is always our first choice. She has a wealth of experience, full of ideas across a wide range of styles, gives clear style guides, very skilled and proactive on set and has an infectious energy to help any filming project.”
